Barcelona Skirt

I finished my second sewing project of my life, the Barcelona skirt from an Amy Butler pattern.  I am so happy with how it turned out and that it fits nicely.  Here is what it looks like.

I’m really excited to have this for summer even though I only wear skirts once in a blue moon.  Maybe I will wear it more since I made it.  I chose this solid color cotton since a print might have put me over the edge.  It is a big enough change just wearing a skirt so I figured I would keep it simple this time around.

I’m also really excited because I did a large portion of this project at home, with my new sewing machine, without guidance from my sewing teacher, Miss Meg.  I’m telling you folks, Meg has serious patience.  Not only did she teach me to sew, and I am slower than molasses in January when it comes to sewing, but she taught my two daughters to sew.  One of them has a lead foot on the sewing machine and a penchant for placing pins 2mm apart.

Hmmm…Has anyone seen Mr. Popper’s Penguins?  My last sentence reminds me of Mr. Popper’s personal assistant.  I think her name is Penny or Poppy or something.

  1. Well done! It looks darling on you and makes me want to make a skirt. I guess I’m following in your footsteps – first the birdie sling……
