France!

We just returned from a quick trip to France.  Here are two of my favorite pictures that do a great job of summing up the trip.

Here I am walking through the little village of Chateauneuf du Pape.  We were there for a morning visit to look at 80 year old Mourvedre vines at Chateau Vaudieux (hmmmm…not sure on that spelling.)  We stopped for a chocolate croissant on the way, then had to walk off those calories by looking around town.

This photo was taken in Paris at a little boulangerie where I ate a giant chocolate sable cookie that was super delicious and had a shot of espresso to keep me going through the rest of the day.  Afterwords, we walked about 2 miles to our hotel in an effort to burn off the calories we had just consumed.  Does anyone see a pattern here?  Our entire trip consisted of eating and then walking.  But it was good and it was fun.

More later…

  1. WOW! I have made a quick trip to the market or even the restroom but FRANCE…………. unless of course there is a France, CA which I doubt. Alas, if only we were in Chateauneuf du Pape and not the hills of Death Valley and Joshua Tree during the Santa Anna winds (we were). Nonetheless, the scenery in southern California was at least as spectacular as southern France but you certainly can hardly find decent bottle of wine in Furnace Creek! Love those southern Rhone wines – will you be looking to do some of that type of blending? Paul
