Thanksgiving Turkey Harvest

I harvested two turkeys yesterday, one Royal Palm, a heritage breed.  The other was a wild turkey that I raised here as a regular member of my flock.  Someone in town found the babies in their yard and took them to the feed store.  I bought four of them, along with four blacks, four narragansetts,  and two midget whites to total 14 turkeys to raise and sell for this Thanksgiving season.  I ended the season with only three turkeys living!  The coyotes were clever this year.

I am cooking the Royal Palm today for our Thanksgiving dinner.

My Royal Palm Thanksgiving Turkey

The “Wild One”

Here is to wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.  I don’t know about you, but I have a lot to be thankful for.

Cheers!
